Virus protection

I was talking to my sister last night and she was telling me that she had a virus that she needed to get rid of. It got me thinking how reliable my virus checker is. I often get warnings that I have viruses in my email or on websites that I am browsing but my virus checker just eliminates them for me. Another great advantage is that it does not seem to slow my computer down, which I have found other virus checkers seem to do.
