The Best Pay to Post Site

There are a lot of sites which pay you to write posts on your blog. They vary in the way that they work and how much they pay. Some will let you bid on jobs and the advertisers decide if they want you. Others will send you relevant work and you can choose whether to do it and some will send you work and you have to do it. It is a site like this that I am naming as my favourite. They are PayU2Blog and they pay you $5 per post. This may not seem a lot but you only have to write 60 words and include just one link. It is also convenient as they do not insist that you have an unpaid post in between each one of theirs so you can easily write them in a block which is less time consuming. The best part is that they pay every two weeks by Paypal. They usually pay a little early as well and they pay for the previous two weeks work, so no hanging around for payments, excellent!

I have been waiting for a Bux.to payment since April. I contacted their new customer support service by email and within a few days had a response explaining where to look to find out what dates they were paying. The response was made within a few days and I was impressed. When checking the dates it seems like I will be in the current batch of payments to be made.....fingers crossed.....!!

Property Prices

I watched a really scary program about property last night. Many of the people they interviewed have had buy to let property for years and are making money out of it even in today's economic climate. However, the scary ones were the people who were sold property a few years ago as part of a sales drive by particular companies. These were people who had never owned property before and did not understand the risks. One person had lost tens of thousands of pounds. It made me think hard about investing in property. It is okay if you can buy it outright and then if you have no tenants for a while you will not have to pay too much money out. But if you have a huge mortgage and have no one renting you have to foot the bill. Also it may not be that easy to sell the property so you have this huge debt constantly draining you. If you invest in shares you can more easily sell them. Also if the market falls you will not have to pay out money but just the value of your investment will fall. It certainly made me pleased that my money is tied up in shares and not property.

Contact Lenses

Sometimes I wonder whether I should wear contact lenses instead of glasses. I have never even tried wearing them and I do not really fancy having something in my eye. I also feel that my glasses are part of who I am - I have worn them for nearly 30 years and I would feel lost without them. I think I look odd somehow. I think the final factor for me is the expense and hassle. It seems like people are forever cleaning them, breaking them and taking out insurance on them. My current glasses have lasted me for over 5 years and they take seconds to clean.

Spending Spree

I feel like having a huge spending spree again this weekend. I have no idea why I feel like this - I haven't paid any money off the mortgage so far this month and our credit cards are going to be pretty expensive from the looks of things. I guess perhaps I am getting a bit sick of being frugal and also want some more new clothes for myself and the children. I should really be working much harder at earning more and spending less with the way the economy is going I should be saving as hard as I can I think.

Monthly pattern

Work seems to be picking up a little bit again. It seems to follow a monthly pattern with work starting to come in about the 25th of the month and then stopping at about the 9th. It seems that people have more money at this time of the month (as it corresponds with most people pay days and the following week) and so they ask for people to do work for them at this time. Has anyone else noticed this trend?

Great News!

I am so pleased, I have just been paid some money that I have been owed since July and it feels fantastic! This week has not been that good and so this has been a great moral boost as well as great boost to the bank balance.

Garden Disaster!

You may remember that we decided to grow vegetables as a way to save money. We bought 5 tomato plants, 2 strawberry plants, 2 pepper plants, 2 courgette plants and 2 cucumber plants. We also bought 3 grow bags, slug pellets, canes, frames to hold the canes and Tomorite. Unfortunately one of the tomato plants got a disease which spread through all of the tomatoes and they all died. Slugs ate the courgette plants. The peppers are being eaten by small grubs and they have only just flowered. The good news is we got about 50 strawberries and 4 cucumbers. However, we will have to get rid of the grow bags as the disease will be in the soil and so out of the £50 we spent we probably got about £5 of vegetables and fruit back. A rather disappointing experiment and although I will protecting the strawberries and hoping they fruit again next year, I am not sure whether it is worth growing any more vegetables.

Progress Report

Things seem to be trailing off a bit now, despite the month starting out really well. I have found quite a few opportunities out there but have not been accepted for the work. I will keep trying and hopefully will get something good soon.

Getting Slow Again

It seems to be getting a bit slow again this month. It was a really encouraging start and I wonder whether there is some correlation between when people have recently been paid and how much work I get - seems to make some sense! I have a big spending spree planned for the weekend as the children need some new outfits and some hankies and I need some new trousers which fit me as I have gone down a clothes size. I could do with some trainers as well as a new rain mac. I would like some new boots and new tops as well but I think I will have to keep an eye on how much I am spending - also the chances of me finding so much in one trip is pretty slim as I am very fussy!

Isabel Marco is one of those PTC companies where you can earn one cent for each advert that you click. I have been using them for a while as they were highly recommended by a friend. I have reached the minimum cash out amount of $9 today and so have requested my payment. It will be interesting to see how long they take to pay compared to some of the other similar sites.

I have decided to start a new experiment this week. I have decided to leave comments on every site that I drop to find out what effect this has on my traffic, comments and Adsense clicks. Bux.to Payment

It has been over 3 months since I requested my last Bux.to payment of $80. I was really hoping that I would have it by now as I hope to get my next payment (which will be for over $2700) before Christmas. I wish there was a way of chasing them up and seeing what has happened to the payments but there doesn't seem to be. I am crossing my fingers very hard that they will pay out as I wonder how long a site such as theirs will survive as many similar sites are closing down all of the time.

A Great Start to the Month

This month is turning out really well so far. My book sales are much better than they have been for ages. I think there are a number of reason for this. I think we are getting closer to Christmas and it is likely that people are starting their shopping early as they may be worried that they may have less money available to them later in the year. I think for some people they have started spending money again after stopping for a few months because of all of the credit crunch warnings. i also think that there are less people selling the books now because the profit margins on them are so low, this means that I have less competition. It is probably a combination of all of these reasons and more, but whatever the reason, I am linking it!

I have also found a lot of extra writing work so far this month. I do find that there is more towards the end and beginning of the month which I think is due to it being nearer to pay day. I also think that the fact that I have extra time to concentrate on looking for work, due to the boys being in playgroup has helped me to find more opportunities. I just hope that it continues!

My friend asked me to set up a small membership website for her and sent me a list of her current customers in CSV format. After I created the site, I turned to importing the csv data into mysql.I searched for quite some time before coming across the perfect tool! CSV2SQL by info-pack.com automatically converted the CSV data into SQL statements that I could import directly into phpMyAdmin. It was so simple, it took a file name for the input file and a filename for the export file, and a list of field names then it converted the CSV to SQL automatically!

I logged into phpMyAdmin, selected the Import tab and imported the SQL straight into the database.

CSV2SQL converted my CSV to SQL with ease!I also noticed that they had CSV to HTML converter so I tried it too! It did exactly what it promised, made the CSV file into a HTML table I could style up using CSS!

Entrecard Experiment Results

You may remember that I was experimenting with Entrecard. I decided to start dropping other people and use the credits that I had acquired to buy advertising on websites using the Entrecard widget. Well my advertising period is over and I can conclude that it did me little good. Since stopping dropping, my traffic decreased significantly. Also the comments on my blogs decreased significantly too and even my Google Adsense earnings went down. In conclusion I would say that dropping is a great thing to do and even better leave a comment on each site that you drop and you are even more likely to get a drop and a comment in return.
