Spending Money

I am thinking that I really should be looking around for work very soon. I have spent a lot over Christmas and we are due to have the work on the bathroom started next month. My husband is doing well with his job as he has been on call for 2 weeks this month and was called out at the beginning of the month so should get a big boost to his salary in January when we will really need it. It is nice having some time with the family, with him off work and the boys off school but I do keep thinking that I should be earning something so I may take a look at what is around very soon.

Getting Value for Money

When running a business it can be easy to spend too much money on things. It is easy to get carried away because the money that you are spending does not feel like your own and so it does not seem so important to be frugal. However, it is very important to keep in mind your profits and remember that the less you spend on things the more profit you will have, assuming you are getting good value for money. So whether you are choosing between POS systems or buying stock it is well worth looking in to what you are buying very closely, checking the competition, the prices they sell for and whether you think you will get the best value for money for the company that you have chosen to buy from. It may seem like with POS systems, for example, that if you go with a good, well known company then it doesn't matter how much you pay, but it is important to realise that brand name isn't everything. There may be a new company on the market offering fantastic POS systems which you may not have heard of just because it is new but it may be really good, so make sure you really do a lot of research before making a final decision.

Christmas Spending

I have been going a bit mad with my Christmas spending. I earned well last month and decided that we would have a really good Christmas. the boys are at a fantastic age for enjoying it all and so I have splashed out on a nice lot of presents for us all. I have wrapped everything and just have a last minute parcel of spa filters to wrap for someone and that will be it. I just have to start thinking about the food then, whcih will be fun! It will be just the four of us for lunch on the 23rd when we will have our Christmas day and so that will be pretty easy for me. The only other entertaining I have planned is the in-laws tomorrow and I am all organised with that so I am happy and ready!

Vacation Saving

I have a friend who is going on an Outer Banks vacation very soon. It has got me thinking about holidays. We had a really good time when we went to Centreparcs a few months ago but having a weekend break, I felt was good value for money. It was not long enough for me to start worrying about the business, for anyone to get bored and for us to miss home. The boys did not miss any school and my husband missed no work but we still had a fantastic time. It felt like longer than a weekend as well which was great and I definitely think it is something I will do again.

Co-operative Payout

I have my mortgage, insurance, current account and savings with the co-operative bank and am therefore automatically a member. Having all of these things accumulates points over the year and they have just made a small payout based on their prediction for the end of year and I have had £15 and my husband £14 It is not a fortune but considering how much money I am borrowing from them it is rather nice to be being paid for the privilege, well the £29 may pay just over 1/3rd of a monthly mortgage interest payment but it is better than nothing which is what banks normally give you!
