Christmas Disasters!

As well as a burst pipe and frozen garage sink, we also had no electricity on Christmas morning. Although we were not home and so it did not effect us massively, it did mean that we returned to a freezing cold house due to the electric tripping and the boiler not being on for a few days when it was arctic temperatures outside. It took a few days for the house to warm up. However, although it was tricky at the time, I do feel very thankful that we are not in Northern Ireland where some people have been without water for weeks. Also I have a friend who had a burst water pipe in the house and it brought teh ceiling down. At least we had very little damage.

We had a burst pipe too...in the kitchen ceiling... luckily we spotted the leak - unluckily I had flu at the time (swine flu variant) and had to fix the leak in my pyjamas with a raging fever...
I think your part of the country was one of the coldest over Christmas

Oh no, sounds really nasty. At least neither of us had to call a plumber - we would be bankrupt now if we had!

We could have drowned waiting for a plumber...

Hi Rachel,

Sorry to hear about your plumbing problems. Hope the New Year is a plumberless one.

Happy New Year.
